I came to learn about the Buteyko Breathing Center a few years ago in the wintertime when I was very sick. I was at the point where I could not get up, I could not walk to the bathroom without hyperventilating and having an asthma attack. I had heard about the Breathing Center before and thought that I would take their program, but at that point, driving to the Buteyko Breathing Center was not even possible. So, I was very thankful for the fact that I could work online one-on-one in Skype sessions, which is what I chose to do. From the moment I started working with Thomas and Sasha, I was immediately set at ease and felt very hopeful that there would be some help for my asthmatic condition. I believe that, as Thomas said, I was born a hyperventilator; I was very sick as a child and had been on many different types of medication. I had tried many different types of medication and it got to the point where everything I was doing, all of the medication I was taking, was not helping me any longer. It was getting worse, and worse, and worse! So, I did the Buteyko Breathing Normalization program, I followed exactly what my Buteyko teachers told me to do, which was very helpful. I was looking for some answers to change my condition around and give me some results, and I found it. Within the first couple of weeks (it wasn’t really fast to begin with because my condition was severe) I noticed many changes – I was able to move around; I was able to sleep which was something I had not experienced for years.
Now, I continually see my health improving in many small and large ways. My Control Pause is growing all the time, and I noticed this past winter that for the first time I was able to go outside and walk around doing outdoor activities. While hiking, I don’t get out of breath, and therefore I don’t feel nervous about going out into the cold winter air which in the past I was not able to do. I am also bicycling and canoeing in the summertime. I feel really good, and my energy is increasing. Before, I was not able to work or even move around… (watch the video for more information)
