I have ashma since the age of 3. It began after a cold, my mother told me. I have suffered from this for 57 years now. I have tried many different approaches to try to cure or improve my condition. I can truly say that nothing has worked till I seriously gave the Buteyko technique a go.
Within a short time perhaps 2 weeks, my sleep was better and my am energy slowly rose. I am now able to get through the full night with no Ventolin inhaler at all. This was impossible all my life since asthma was getting worst in the early am as it is for many asthmatics. It is such a good feeling to wake up and feel like the rescue is not needed. A little miracle in itself for me.
I also quickly began to feel calmer in my life in general. Within one month, I felt different in my rhythms. I have more patience and calm to deal with life’s challenges on a day to day basis. The drugs use to affect my nervous system and often made me feel agitated. From 3 to 5 puff of Ventolin a day I am now down to 1 puff a day in 2 months. This is very remarkable progress.
Another thing I notice is my complexion is better. Since my blood circulates better I see more color in my face and my body in general feels stronger. My posture is improving which is also something I wanted so much to change. I am learning to listen to my breathing and pay attention to what it needs. To have some tools to deal with this other than rescue inhalers is fantastic.
If I get too tired or stressed or over eat is when the asthma shows up. I am learning lots of ways to become aware of this and again have tools to deal with it that are non drug related. Another lthing to mention, which is terrific, is how from the start my energy levels have gone up. Many small projects around the house I was not able to do before but now can because I have energy and focus to attack the project and get it done.
But all these good results come with dedication to the practice, trust, faith, endurance, patience and lots of relaxation. Making this a priority in my life is a big challenge but it is the only way I wish to continue to live my life; to breathe better was my constant need and wish and now it is a reality!
