| Jesse Steinberg's Personal Recovery Story |
The Buteyko Breathing Cure Workshop was only a week ago. Yet, I have already improved dramatically. With careful daily practice of the relaxation and "reduced breathing" exercises, my breathing is significantly gentler, and I have not used my rescue inhaler since. Additionally, I find myself calmer, with greater mental clarity and more sustained physical energy. At various times throughout my life, I have been a prisoner of my asthma. With proper application of the Buteyko Breathing Method, I am confident that I will never suffer from asthma again. Moreover, I have found that as I breathe better, my hereditary gastro-intestinal disorder has also improved, as has my hypoglycemia, as have my stress levels, as has my mental clarity, and my physical energy, and my posture, and my mood.
It is a rare gift that Thomas and Sasha bestow. They have given me the tools to take my healing into my own hands, and to dramatically improve my health on all fronts. Perhaps most importantly, they have empowered me to see myself as a vibrant, healthy young man, rather than a sickly person trapped by illness. Therefore, it is with great pleasure that I will soon begin the process of becoming a licensed Buteyko Practitioner. I hope to be ready for the professional trainings with Dr. Novozhilov when he comes to the Buteyko Center USA in June 2010. Buteyko has vastly improved the quality of my life, and I wish to share it with everyone I can. |

| Testimonials by Jesse Steinberg's Clients |
"Dear Jesse, Kate, my three year old daughter, has been doing great, knock knock on wood... :) We are still doing exercises twice a day on a regular basis, and she has gotten into a habit of breathing through the nose all the time... I am very impressed with the results, as we've been having all our windows open, the pollen counts are high, everyone is coughing and sneezing, but her nose remains clear... She sleeps with open windows, plays outside, runs, jumps, and has been off Claritin and Nasonex for 3.5 weeks now! Since her allergies have always been pretty mild, I think that the nose breathing has really made a difference...
Her asthma has also been pretty much under control... She is still on her costeroid (Flovent) inhaler twice a day, and I am just waiting for her to get a cold to see if she weathers it without a bronchodilator.
Once that happens, I will request re-evaluation and lowering the dosage of the Flovent as well... So I'm just waiting for that cold - how crazy... She hasn't had a cold for over a month now... :) It really made such a huge difference to have that Skype session with you! I am pretty sure that doing the exercises correctly is the only reason for our normal life right now. Thank you again so much!!!"

Biography |
Jesse Steinberg has been athletic for as long as he can remember. He was also always asthmatic. He persevered through the illness, not letting it get in the way of sports, playing soccer and swimming competitively for nearly 20 years. However, the disease wouldn’t let itself be completely forgotten; it would sometimes rear its ugly head at the worst possible times. As a necessary precaution, Jesse made to sure he never left the house without his inhaler. In his early twenties, he discovered that he had severe food allergies. They were irritating and difficult to live with, but they served as a life changing catalyst for Jesse. The allergies made him reconsider and reinvent his relationship with food. Jesse learned about nutrition and food systems and soon began to delve deeper and deeper into the study of organic farming. He worked at three farms in the last five years, learning all aspects of organic farm operations, and more importantly, developing a closer relationship with his food. In 2006, Jesse’s nutritionist recommended that he try the Buteyko Method in order to help his asthma. Jesse began nasal breathing. It was the first time he experienced any relief from a non-drug method, however it did not make the problem go away. |
He still had to periodically take steroids in order to keep the disease under control. Then, in 2009, dreading the prospect of another winter with steroids, Jesse decided to give the Buteyko Method another chance. He searched online for someone who could teach him the Method, and quickly discovered that the international headquarters of the original Russian Buteyko clinic were only an hour’s drive from his home! He immediately signed up for a weekend workshop at Buteyko Center USA. After making exceptionally good progress at the workshop, Thomas suggested that Jesse consider becoming a Buteyko practitioner. The Buteyko Method and theory fit well with Jesse’s ideas of health and wellness. He decided to go through the training so that he could stay healthy and also, so that he could help others find their health.
Until recently, he was commuting between upstate New York and Boston, where he was studying social work at Boston College. However, his practitioner training has really taken off and he has taken on the role of Program Coordinator at Buteyko Center USA, so Jesse has taken a leave of absence from college and has chosen to devote all of his time to Buteyko. Jesse is passionate about teaching children a healthy mental and physical lifestyle. In the future, Jesse hopes to combine his interest in education with his work as a Buteyko practitioner and help kids form life-long healthy breathing habits.
