1. Please help!
His mother died. Three times.
Every time, the doctors brought her back.
He hates to see her suffocating.

He runs around their apartment building ringing every doorbell. "Please help! My mother!"

2. Cure anyone?

They had heard of a physician who lived far away - in Siberia. Rumor had it that he could cure anyone, especially asthmatics. They wrote him a letter.

"Yes, my son, he is nine years old, "Ludmila replied.

"Andrey," Konstantin said, "I will teach you my method and you will help your mother. Her life is in your hands now."

3. I can help!

Two weeks had passed since Konstantin left. Andrey still spent a lot of time with Ludmila listening to her grasping for air. She never had enough of it.

"Breathe less, please,"he would tell her.

His motherwasdoing remarkably well. She lost a lot of weight, started walking, laughing, and had not had anasthma attack for a whole week!

"Breathe less. You are ill because you breathe too much. Your body is very intelligent: it protects you from over-breathing by creating suffocation. Take less air, and you'll be fine" - he taught his mother.

4. There is more to learn

Six month later. Ludmila iswaiting for Konstantin by the doorway of a college building. Finally, he approaches. The physician briefly looks at her… And then looks again.

Oh my God, he is checking me out! – Ludmila realized.
"Hello!" she steps forward.

Now Konstantin looks at her eyes. It takes him a while to recognize her.
"You?" he is flabbergasted. "I thought you would die… What are you doing here?"
"I am helping people. I am teaching your method," Ludmila said. "And I am here to ask you questions."

5. The family.

Ludmila joined him. In fact, for next 34 years she never missed any of his lectures. Moreover, she spent 34 years always at his side. Always learning from him. Always admiring him.

Andrey grew up to become a medical doctor.

He and Konstantin spent long evenings at home discussing medicine. Konstantintold Andrey about his laboratory in the Siberian City of Academicians, where doctors and scientists worked together on the development of his method. There, they confirmed Konstantin's discovery about carbon dioxide's leading role in breathing, and dispelled the idea that oxygen is a regulator of the breathing process. This method, which was eventually developed under Konstantin's supervision, was capable of saving the lives of adults and children by simply modifying their breathing.

The problem was that this drug-free method would put at risk the livelihood of the medical establishment. Doctors did not like that patients cured by Konstantin's method would follow him as a guru. The result: Konstantin's laboratory was destroyed; his data was compromised; and there were several attempts on his life.

"My method was preserved by my patients "Konstantin would say. "They are my army, my protection."

After the collapse of Soviet Union, Andrey, Ludmila and Konstantin opened a medical center in Moscow. It isnamed afterKonstantin's last name: Clinica Buteyko.

Konstantin passed away in 2003.
Today,  Ludmila now 74 years old; is in the clinic every day working mostly with children.

7. My family!
